Everyone knows the World
Mini means high winds and a rough track! This year was no
exception.
Cameron had bad luck
when it came to his gate picks for the first motos. The
picture above (bottom left) is a good indicator of where our
gate picks were for the first motos. The far right side of
the gate was a tough challenge with gates of around thirty
pros. If that wasn’t enough, he suffered a broken clutch
lever from landing on another rider in one of his 250 motos
and a rock through his goggles that separated his lens and
let a ton of dirt in and under his contact lenses in another
moto!!

OK… enough of the bad
news! Thursday…event 69, 450 Pro Mod… Cameron got a twelfth
gate pick and lined up somewhat near the center of the
gate. Over thirty riders slammed into the corner. Cameron
came through the third turn around twelfth. He made some
very aggressive passes including passing Terren O’dell just
before the last turn on the last lap! Cameron finished
SEVENTH and the whole week seemed better instantly!!
Saturday brought the
second moto. Cameron was rested and mentally prepared. The
start was very similar to the one on Thursday. Cameron was
somewhere around twelfth in the first lap. He started
turning on more speed as the moto went on, passing rival 100
rider Buck Ford, among others. Cameron went on to finish
EIGHTH for an over all of SEVENTH!!
We
are very proud of our results at the World Mini. Cameron’s
first big race as a pro proved that he is a real contender
with the speed to reel in and pass factory supported pros.
We will be attending the
Loretta Qualifiers at Boulder City this weekend. Cameron is
already Qualified for the Glen Helen Regional, but a dirt
start and a decent sized pro gate should be good training.
Thanks again for your
continued help and support.
Mike Rodriguez,
Cameron’s Dad and biggest fan!
